IOA 17th Annual Conference

The Second Great Pivot to Virtual

We would like to thank the more than 200 IOA members and supporters who took part in our recent IOA Conference Survey. After considering the survey input, as well as safety considerations and the persistent uncertainty regarding travel and budget limitations for the next six months, the IOA Board of Directors has decided to pivot our 17th Annual Conference to a fully virtual format. The safety of IOA members, families and friends, and the protection of our communities must take priority.

Although we are disappointed that circumstances do not permit us to gather together in person in Miami, Florida, USA this coming April, we are excited to build upon the success of last year’s first-ever virtual conference experience.

We are hopeful conditions will continue to improve in battling the COVID-19 pandemic. In the meantime, we have decided the transition to a virtual gathering will allow the Conference Planning Committee and IOA staff to focus on building an event that invites collaboration and connection in unique ways, engaging ombuds and supporters worldwide.

Speaker Suggestion & Input

This past year has been difficult for all of us. Nonetheless, because of your efforts, IOA was able to successfully launch its first virtual conference during this pandemic. Thank you for helping to make IOA’s 2021 Annual Conference a success through your involvement and active participation. We look forward to working with you to make the 2022 Annual Conference just as successful.

The Programming Sub-committee of the IOA Conference is in the process of selecting speakers for the 2022 Annual Conference. It is vital for these presenters to reflect the interests and practice concerns of our membership. To help us achieve this end, we are soliciting your help and input. We invite anyone wishing to do so to submit your suggestions for speakers.

Please take into account the theme of our 2022 conference (Belonging Together: Reimagined) as you consider possible speakers.
