Do I need to be a member of IOA to register for the virtual event?|

IOA membership is not required. IOA 2021 is open to all! However, IOA Members receive a discounted rate on conference registration. If you are not yet an IOA member we encourage you to learn more about all that IOA has to offer by visiting our website ombudsassociation.org/become-a-member.

What does the registration cost?

Registration rates vary from $95 – $495 USD

What is the registration cancellation policy?

All cancellations requests received on or before Monday, March 1, 2021, will be issued a refund less a $75 processing fee. No refunds will be given thereafter except in the event of extenuating circumstances such as hospitalization or death. Requests for registration cancellation must be submitted in writing via email to  [email protected] If you are not able to attend one or more sessions, IOA will not prorate or refund any part of your registration fee. Substitute attendees will be permitted. Substitution requests must be in writing via email to [email protected] no later than 7 days prior to the event start.


What is included with Registration?

Your registration fee includes all available sessions and recordings. If you are not able to attend one or more sessions, IOA will not prorate or refund any part of your registration fee. Each virtual session will be recorded, and recordings will be provided to all registrants after the conclusion of the event.

When does registration close?

Registration closes on 8 March 2021.


What days/times are the sessions?

There will be three days of events and sessions that will follow the order outlined on our schedule page. Please note, this schedule is subject to change as programming develops. Additionally, efforts are being made to provide content for International Attendees with varying time zones. All times below are listed in Pacific Standard Time first.

Can I receive Professional Development Hours (PDH) for the virtual event?

All IOA Conference sessions are sent to the CO-OP® Certification Board to be approved for PDH credits. Credits for CO-OP® credentials are self-reported and the credits delivered based on the sessions you attend.

What technology are you using for the virtual IOA 2021?

The virtual conference is taking place on a website platform called Pathable. Pathable is designed specifically to facilitate virtual meetings and encompasses everything you would need for a virtual meeting including the agenda with live webinars, exhibitor profiles, speaker and attendee profiles, and the ability for attendees to network within the website.


When will we receive login instructions?

The virtual platform will launch on March 8, 2021. You will gain access to the website by creating your log-in username and password. Additional log-in instructions will be sent via email directly to each attendee from Pathable on March 15th. This email will contain a unique auto sign-in link for that attendee. Each link is unique and should not be shared. This will take the attendee to a screen where they will be able to create their own password for their profile and fill out any information they wish to add and upload their headshot.


How will I be able to connect with other virtual attendees?

Attendees will have the chance to have real-time chats with one another as well as post on discussion forums and have integrated one-on-one video calls.


What format are the sessions in?

Sessions will be live lectures, discussions, and/or workshops over a Zoom meeting.


Will sessions be pre-recorded or live?

Sessions will be presented live followed by a live Q&A. The live sessions will also be recorded for those in various time zones who have difficulty attending a live session.

Our goal is to make the virtual discussions as dynamic as possible and to offer alternative opportunities for interaction between speakers and participants.


My company has restricted Zoom usage. Will I be able to still attend the conference?

Yes! All the videos are embedded into the virtual platform so as long as you have a conference account, you'll be able to view any of our sessions. The only restriction you might face is limited participation in Networking Sessions and Private one-on-one meetings. This is due to the fact that Zoom needs access to your camera microphone, company restrictions will limit your ability to participate via audio or video.


I can't attend a session due to scheduling conflicts. Will I still be able to watch the presentation afterward?

Yes! All of our breakout sessions will be recorded and available on-demand following the session. Please feel free to go back and watch all our sessions at your convenience. Some additional meetings will not be recorded check the schedule to see which sessions will and will not be recorded. 


Can I pick any session to attend?

Yes, you can choose any session you would like to attend in each session time block.


Will I be able to move from session to session during the event?

Yes, you will be able to move from session to session similar to as you would during the in-person event.


Do I need to download Zoom to participate in the virtual event?

For the best event experience, we recommend that you download the Zoom Client for Meetings ahead of time: https://zoom.us/download

The web browser client will download automatically when you start or join your first Zoom meeting, but we recommend that you download the application prior to the conference using the link above for a smoother, more seamless experience.


What are the Zoom system requirements?
