Airport Information

Travelers named Portland International Airport (PDX) the best airport in the United States in Travel + Leisure survey every year from 2013–2019. Why do they love PDX? An easy light rail connection to downtown, free Wi-Fi, great local food and drink (including microbrews, craft spirits, and even food carts) and tax-free shopping with no markups are just a few of the reasons.

Here are a few things to keep in mind as you make plans to join us in the beautiful United States Pacific Northwest.

1. Research Required Documentation

  • Timeline for Gathering Documentation: For travelers coming from countries that are not part of the U.S. Visa Waiver program or who are not otherwise eligible for a Visa waiver, we recommend allowing at least 3 months for obtaining travel documents.
    • For passport information, please look to your country of residence for information as early as possible to avoid surprises. If you have a passport, please check to make sure it is current.

  • Do you need a letter of invitation? The office can produce an official letter of invitation to support a visa application. Please email the IOA's office with your name and address so we can produce a PDF file for you.

2. Establish Your Budget

  • Event Registration: View the list of registration rates & information. You may also want to review an outline of the schedule of events.
  • Travel Costs: Keep in mind air travel, ground transportation, baggage cost, etc. 
    • Portland International Airport hosts flights from many international destinations, though some travelers may need to take connecting flights through larger hubs like Denver, CO; Los Angeles, CA; San Francisco, CA or Seattle, WA.
  • Hotel Stay: We encourage attendees to book discounted hotel rooms at the conference hotel, Portland Marriott Downtown Waterfront, for $199 per night plus taxes and fees. This will ensure the best rate and travel convenience.

3. Register for the Conference

  • When to Register: We are offering early bird registration through February 14, 2020. Registering early can save you up to $100. Remember, you can register today and pay later with our "invoice me" option.
  • Cancellation Policy: Notification of cancellation must be submitted in writing via email to [email protected]. Cancellations received by Monday, 9 March 2020 will be refunded, less a $75 USD cancellation fee. No refunds will be made for cancellations received after Monday, 9 March 2020. Substitutions can be made at any time before Monday, 9 March 2020, as long as both attendees are of the same registration type.
