Description

Traditionally, ombuds offices provide a safe place for individuals to discuss and clarify concerns, identify problem-solving strategies, and resolve conflict informally. This consultative work is the bread and butter of ombuds services. Often missing from this work is systemic issue analysis. By looking beyond individual conflicts and conducting root-cause analysis that identifies systemic issues, an ombuds office can serve as an advocate for systemic change. In this workshop, participants will learn how to identify systemic issues, discover tools to assist in analyzing systemic issues and creating recommendations for systemic change, and how to serve as an advocate for systemic change while still abiding by the IOA Standards of Practice..

Learning Objectives

  1. Learn how to identify systemic issues.
  2. Discover tools to assist in analyzing systemic issues and creating recommendations for systemic change.
  3. How to serve as an advocate for systemic change while still abiding by the IOA Standards of Practice.
